Code 1029 Premium Craft Crank Stoneware Clay. For handbuilding large items with other clays to provide ‘Tooth’. This coarse textured open but plastic clay is unsurpassed. Refractory and nicely toasted colour (speckled orange-brown under reduction). Ball clay based with several specially graded grogs exclusively manufactured by us. Low shrinkage. This is the original crank (1023) but to a revised recipe, and remains easily the best crank body made despite many attempts at substitutes.
Recommended firing range 1170-1300C (Cone 5-12) Indicative texture 8 (Smooth 1-Coarse 10). Indicative % Total Contraction @ 1100C/1200C 9%*
